Relatives of Pamela Flores, 14, had been looking for her since she went missing on Oct. 27. In a notice posted to social media, a woman identifying herself as Flores’ cousin said the girl was last seen at 8:14 that morning and never made it to school. The message stated that she was wearing her Frankford High uniform when last seen and that her cell phone and book bag were later found near the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge.

The family notified police when Flores did not return home on Oct. 27.

On Nov. 4 shortly after 11 a.m., a witness spotted a body in the river near the Linden Avenue boat ramp and called police. The boat ramp is more than three miles upriver from the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge. The Philadelphia Police Marine Unit removed the body from the water. The city’s medical examiner identified the remains as Flores and ruled that her death was a suicide by drowning. Police are still investigating the specific circumstances of the death. ••
